Harman Kardon Ipod intergration

Recommended Posts

Hi,

This is my first post on this forum. I bought my 2001 Carrera 4 a couple of months ago and have been fustrated by the lack of Ipod intergration.

My car has the PCM with a phone handset which really limited the options of where I could mount an Ipod and not have it get in my or my passengers way and yet still be able to control it.

After seeing it in a local store a couple of weeks ago, I decided to bite the bullet and buy the Harman/Kardon drive&play.

It's great that I can hide my Ipod away in the center arm rest and yet have full control of it. For the first couple of weeks I was using the built in wirless FM transmitter which at times gave poor sound quality. Today I pulled out the PCM unit and properly installed the unit with the RF modulator. The sound quality is so much better.

I did not get any photos of the installation process, but here are some photos of the finished product.

The display is mounted using a temporary adhesive I got with my old Garmin GPS. I used the same adhesive in my old BMW and managed to remove it without leaving any trace

I mounted the controller by drilling holes through the fake rear window winder buttons and also ran the wire through the buttons.

Forget the pictures of the ipod - more of the women!
