Clutch Replacement (99 C2)

Recommended Posts

So it's time to replace the clutch in my 1999 C2. Does anyone have the R&R guide that they could send me? Any gotchas I should be aware of? I'm also going to do the RMS while I'm in there. Thanks in advance!

PM me with a email address and I will forward the manual pages in a DOC format. Also, if you need a flywheel let me know, I have a abrand new one that I wll sell for $350 plus shipping (part #996.114.012.03, list price is $947.32).

Be careful when withdrawing the tranny. Don't let any weight get supported by the input shaft in the disc spline before it is clear out. A recent RMS replacement on mine ( at a dealer ) resulted in a slightly bent disc because of this. Symptom is clutch won't disengage completely. I guess if you are replacing the clutch , this isn't so important. But maybe on the way in with the new parts.

Replace the clutch release lever with a newer design..... there is a TSB for that..... probably cost about $25 @ Sunset, and will cost about $45 @ dealerships.

Also.... get the clutch kit from Sunset, $400, as compare to $700 from dealerships.
