  1. CDR220 BE 4462 S/N X5025354 Please..... Thanks, in advance!
  2. For S/N X502354 Try 3138 or 3136 Both 3138 and 3136 didn't work. 3140 neither. S/N is X5025354 not X502354, sorry.
  3. Mine is a 996MY99, I have original code card, but that code doesn't work..... It is a CDR220 On my code card, it said: Serial No. BE 4462 X 5021598 Code No. 0509 Please help. Thanks! EDIT: I followed your instruction and try to get the serial from the radio itself, and it is DIFFERENT!!! BE 4462 X5025354 I think that's why my 0509 code didn't work.
  4. 1) That say "canadian model" 2) I do not have the cut-outs 3) But, the porsche dealership said it is "back there" while I should take the panel off to check..... my issue is.... how do i take the panel out? Is there anyone else here who have done that before??
  5. Anyone know how to access the child seat anchor on the rear shelf on a '99? I called my local dealership and they said that it should be back there and there should be a "cut out", but when I tried to look for it, there is no cut-out on my carpet.... Any idea??
  6. I got into a freak car accident on the freeway @ 80mph yesterday! Some debris flew out of nowhere and hit me.... I didn't see it until BAM!! I didn't see it coming, and I didn't see it going.... and i was in awe and disbelief while I continue my drive... All I can see from inside, is that it slight scratches my windshield, but it TOOK my whole passenger side mirror out!! The whole mirror is GONE!! When I inspect it after I got off the freeway, the metal frame inside the mirror is cut in half! And then there are quite some long surface scratches on the hood and on the right side of the car... :-( I would like to the manual pages(procedures) for the passenger side mirror removal/install... and as well as the partlist.... so that I can evaluating fixing it myself (getting parts from sunset)... Can someone help please? I've a '99 Silver 996, 2WD. Thanks in advance!!
  7. Figured out... the duct is just HANGING in there... so... just forcing them apart is THE WAY.... I retrieved my part and I fixed my air vent!!! I guess, when I get to put it all back together tomorrow... I'll apply a lot of felt tape and sponge in the vent area as well as down in the duct area... (as it is just hanging there.... ) to reduce some of the rattling down there!
  8. A piece of my left vent felt into the duct! It is now deep inside..... if I shake the duct right above my brake pedal near my knee... I can hear it bouncing inside!! Now my question is... how to open that duct up and retrieve my missing vent piece? (pics & page num from the Technical Manual will help too!!!) Thanks in advance! PS. I have already disassembled the vent.... but no way my hand can reach inside the duct to where the piece is....
  9. Replace the clutch release lever with a newer design..... there is a TSB for that..... probably cost about $25 @ Sunset, and will cost about $45 @ dealerships. Also.... get the clutch kit from Sunset, $400, as compare to $700 from dealerships.
  10. I don't really need them bright, afterall, it is just an additional HIGH beam for my bi-xenon HID. What I want is the whiteness... I don't want a YELLOW tint when I turn on my HIGH beam. I am considering for my "additional" High Beam: - Hoen's xenonmatch http://www.hoen-usa.com/xenmatch.htm OR - SupremePower's 55W Superwhite http://supremepowerparts.com/products/bulb...Watt_Superwhite Anyone have any experience? I am also considering for my Fog lamp: - Hoen's Endurance http://www.hoen-usa.com/weather.htm (this is VERY yellow)
  11. I am researching on what choices I have (current products, threads that I pulled up from search listed many "obsoleted" products).... to match the whiteness of my litronic.... There are really not much H6W bulbs available.... And then... what H7 should I go try? Any recommendations?
  12. I have the 4 CD storage units, do they come out 1 by 1? or do all 4 come out together as a unit?
  13. I have the "Technical Manuals" but I couldn't find out HOW to disassemble the lower slots(the CD-Storage & the empty slot on my '99 996C2) underneath the dashboard. I looked thru the TM, but it only show me how to disassemble the dashboard, but no reference to the lower slots! I am really puzzled....
  14. That's the same DIY in my post. Wasn't the way I want it... I just want mine to be the same as RoW... so I think I will just re-wire the SideMarker's wire to the TurnSignal, no more SideMarker anymore.... :-)
  15. I think this is the link: http://wa4ekg.home.att.net/996mods/sidemarkermod.html The link has very good info, and cross referencing that website, with the 996 Technical Manual's wiring diagrams really helped me to understand the whole thing. But I instead of following that DIY and keep the "side marker" functionality, I think I'll just wire the "side marker" as the "side turn signal" (just like how RoW cars are...); if members are interested, I will post a DIY. The 996 DO have a "side marker" at the headlamp assembly, but that's probably not enough for DOT, hence, the "side turn signal" on US cars are wired as a "side marker" now. I wasn't a fan of a amberish side marker on my car at night anyways.... (the Porsche designers had always envisioned those to be the "side turn signals" anyways....)
  16. Is there a DIY to make the "Side Marker" become a "Turn Signal"? It seems possible.... right?
  17. "Climate Control Trim Piece (from Porsche to move Climate control to bottom shelf): $6" Anyone have the part number for this piece?? Also, is it possible, is there a trim piece to move the "Climate Control" to replace the "CD Storage"? Also, is there a trim piece to move the "CD Storage" to the bottom slot? Thanks!!
  18. So, have you got the Becker AUX IN kit yet? If so, just disconnect your CDC (the cable at the back is good enough), and hook up your AUX IN kit, and enable the AUX IN from the head unit according to the instructions of my last post. The more extensive mod that will allow you to use both the CDC and the AUX is that to DIY a splitter that hook both CDC and AUX audio to the head unit, and use a switch open/close the power to the CDC. So, if you do not supply power to the CDC and turn on your headunit, the headunit will get NO RESPONSE from the CDC, therefore, think that there is no CDC, and you can select "AUX" for your IPOD. And if you do supply power to the CDC and turn on your headunit, the headunit will get a RESPONSE from the CDC, then it will just play from the CDC. The cleaner solution is actually use an IC to switch the audio between the CDC/IPOD so that don't over-drive each other (this is the solution that I'll be implementing for the car that I will be working on soon).
  19. YES it can be done. Via the "AUX" rather than "CDC", ie. having the CD Changer disconnected. (let me try to find the instructions for you) But now, how do you want your system to work? I assumed that you actually HAVE a CDC too... I have another car that I need to do this for too, CDR-220 w/ CDC.... I am thinking about splitting the CDC audio into the CDR-220, and use a button to switch between the CDC and ipod. EDIT: In short, if you already have the AUX kit and had installed it, all you need is to disconnect the CDC, and enable the AUX: "program the 220 to run in Aux mode when it doesn't detect the Changer. Turn the radio on, hold down the TP button until Becker 1 is displayed. Turn tuning knob until AUX OFF is displayed. Then arrow down and change it to AUX ON. Turn the radio off." Here are the detailed instructions: http://home.earthlink.net/~mosierjr/PicsPage14.htm http://home.comcast.net/~kilsen/boxster_ipod.htm Enjoy!
  20. May I know which PANEL do I need to get to move my A/C cover down to the bottom slot, undernead my CD storage slots? 996 dual cup holder that sit in the slot under the A/C outlet http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/merchant..._Code=POTE996IN
  21. 1) Are there any leather conditioner or something like that which can soften the surface and reduce the squeaking? 2) I think mine is a little more serious.... since I don't need to be sitting in the seat, I can just push on various part of the seat and those noise come out....
  22. I just got this '99 996C2, full leather.... I noticed that there are a lot of rubbering noises, squeaking in the chair.... Any solutions? Recommendations of what I can try to do?
  23. Check this out.... http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml Also, here is a complete 986(996 VERY similar) brake pads/rotors replacement DIY with massive photos, good stuff! http://www.bombaydigital.com/boxster/projects/brakes/
  24. Especially that UK has banned the ownership of firearms..... with anywhere from 30-50% of US household having firearms.... WAY LESS thieves are willing to venture into your home just to try to take your car keys!!!
