Do I have the Porsche Sport Exhaust?

I am new to the Porsche family, having recently purchased a 2000 996 C4 cab. My exhaust tips seem larger (and more oval) than the typical 996 exhaust I see.

As my knowledge base is still somewhat limited, can you tell me if what you see in the attached pics is the Porsche Sports Exhaust (PSE)? Was it offered in 2000?

Exhaust tips do not define a PSE at all. Any tip that fits a standard exhaust will fit a PSE. You will need to crawl under the car and look at your mufflers and see if the valves are there. Standard mufflers to not have the bypass pipes and valves. Here is a pic of a PSE muffler (w/valves)

Thanks for the response, Loren. Do you know if PSE was even offered in MY 200 996 C4's?

I believe the first year it was offered as a factory option was MY03. It was introduced as an aftermarket option in 1999 though. The earlier version (that I own) has smaller bypass pipes than the one in the pic.

How can you tell from the first picture what exhaust system the car in the first picture has?

Sport exhaust or not, thats one sweet looking Carrera 4!
