OBC Cluster

Recommended Posts

I change my cluster to a one that came with OBC function, but my boxster doesn't have the stalk/control for the OBC, is there a way to control the OBC.

Everytime I start the car it complain about the airbag signal and it prompt me to enter "OK" to get rid of the message, is there a way to enter "OK" even my car doesn't came with the stalk control?

Please advice

Thanks

I only got 2 standard stalks, and no cruse control

what do I need to do if I take you first suggestion "fit the stalk" ? I would like to keep the OBC functions

Where are you located?

I did the stalk swap on my 03S a few months ago, it's quite straightforward, overall it should take a couple of hours at most. I had the same two stalk setup as you and switched to the four stalk, I added Cruise Control as well as OBC at the same time.

I believe the four stalk unit is actuallt cheaper than the three stalk so you may as well look at adding cruise control although your posts seem to suggest you have a 987, I don't know if anyone has done it on a 987 so far but would think it should be the same. Cruise control would need to be enabled using a PST2, probably by a dealer. You'd need to buy the stalk, the wires for the harness and connectors, total cost for parts is about $200.

If all you want is an easy way to control OBD you can also run wires from the harness to simple switches and not bother with the stalk but it isn't as neat a solution in my opinion, you do however still get all of the functionality.

You should post where you are located, the year and model of your car as well as any relevant options.

Chris.

I'm intruiged as to how and why you changed your cluster. All 986 clusters contain the original OBC functionality although it was updated later. Do you see the simple OBC display with regular LED digits or the one with the more advanced dot-matrix style display? Or do you see nothing at all?

It seems odd that you would be getting airbag warnings, do you have airbag deactivation installed for a child seat or similar?

Refer to http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=661

I have recently done this mod (4 stalk) on my 2000S Boxster and it's great. Since it is E-gas model the mod is fairly straight forward and the cruise control reduces the number of speeding tickets !

Thanks for all the reply

I just want to ask one more question.

If I had a 4 stalks control until, can I just swap the 2 stalks unit so that I can control the OBC panel.

Is that a simple swap, do I need to puchase or rerun any connector/wiring.

Everthough some user said that we can enable the cruse control at the same time, but let say if I don't need cruse control, can I still swap it just for the OBC and leave the cruse control deactivated

Please advice

Thanks

My orginal car doesn't have OBC function.

I purchased the 4 stalks control unit and I also purchase a cluster that came with OBC function (when I start my car, the cluster will display outsode temperture and do a serive check on the car.)

Here is my question:

at the bottom of the 4 stalks control unit, there are two connection, one is for curse control and the other is the OBC.

I can't find any connector from my dash board are that connect to the OBC connector from the 4 stalks unit.

Can anyone give me some hint what can I do to make it works

thanks
