On a MY06, what kind of lights are these?

Recommended Posts

What color are they at night? Are they real bright? Do they get brighter in the first few seconds after they "fire-up"? Do they self level...point down, then level up after turing on?? If so. they are Xenon. A +$1,000 option!

I'll have to look at them as you suggest, I have only had the car for a day so not really enough time to figure all of this out.

Do the regular halogen have the same lens system as Bi-Xenon ones?

I think those are bi xenon actually. The projector lens is usually the give away. The normal looking bulb is for the high beams.

Projector beam lenses are not unique to Gas discharge lights any more. The headlight washers are a mandatory requirement (in europe anyway) for gas discharge lights. Possible that the USA market vehicles may be supplied without headlight washers with gas discharge but unlikely. Only real way to tell is remove the headlight and take the rear cover off (look for the ballast units) or check the options on the car service book.

I have not taken the lights apart to look for the ballast, but there are no washers and the code list does not have the Bi-Xenon option listed, so Halogen is the result. They are gret lights however, very distinctive cutoff and a nice color temperature.

hmmm, see the new post on an upgrade idea...
