    Rather odd. Are the front pads wearing evenly? You may have a sticky caliper. My fronts are dustier than the rears, but the respective lefts and rights match.

    Pressures for the 19"s should be 32f/37r, per the door sticker on my 2007; the owner's manual is incorrect. As for the wear, has the car had an alignment? The suspension settles after a couple of thousand miles, and most often needs readjustment.

    Everything I have read suggests that there is no horsepower to be gained by changing just the muffler. In fact, there is the possibility of losing power. You have to alter both sides of the engine -- intake and exhaust -- to see any significant gains: ecu, headers, muffler.

    I don't think the Bose system in my 2007 reads MP3s :huh: I may be wrong, though, as I only put 250 miles on it before the 58" of snow since December 21 forced it under the car cover until spring :(

    Why not just change the vehicle coding for the country from Canada to the United States? This will turn off the DRL feature, yet you can just turn on the headlights to comply with the DRL laws when necessary. You just need to find a sympathetic dealer, which might be easier with a quick trip south. ;)

    In addition to a sensor and new valve for each wheel (ran $76/wheel for my Touareg from Tire Rack a few years ago), you would have to add the monitoring modules for each wheel and TPMS controller for the system, along with the various wiring harnesses. I think the parts and labor could easily be over $2000 :eek:

    My 2007 987 is sitting waiting for a boat :( so I can only suggest the way Touareg owners use. Put the wiper stalk in the automatic position and run the hose down the center of the windshield. On the Touareg, the rain sensor is integral with the mount for the rear view mirror. The wipers should activate.

    502 used to be version for USA, but that is now 484, so I don't know. Loren got the rest.

    Full installation of the electronics for the sports exhaust on a 986 takes somewhere on the order of 8 hours. That is the reason most just install the muffler and skip the elaborate electric and vacuum controls. The default position of the muffler without electronic controls is always open -- ie. louder (but just a little bit). I suspect the 987 is similar.

    I believe that you may be describing the "Coke bottle" howl associated with a faulty valve in the charcoal canister. It is a known problem with the 986s, and does not seem to be related to age, as I had it on my 2000 S from about 5,000 miles on. Not sure if there was a TSB for this.

    Call Homelink; they can give you model specific directions. The instructions in owner's manuals are often misleading, particularly concerning where the opener must be held during programing

    OBD2 is the port for connection of an On Board Diagnostics computer or code reader. VAG-COM is a computer program available from Ross-Tech Engineering that allows diagnostics and changes to a VW product's internal computer codes across a wide variety of addresses, such as engine, transmission, instruments, central electronics,etc. I have used VAG-COM to tailor a variety of items on my Touareg V-8, such as disabling the seat belt chime and deactivating the NAV warning that pops up every time you start the vehicle.
