Hello,

I recently noticed that when I switch on the ignition the red light of the safety belt in the instrument cluster no longer lights up. I even have my doubts whether it ever did. Could it be that the previous owner had the Porsche dealer switch this function off? Do I need the Porsche dealer's assistance to have this undone? I drive a Porsche 996 C4 ('99)

Most likely the bulb needs to be replaced.

Do a search here for "+cluster +bulb" and you should find some tips.

Hello Loren,

Spot on, the light bulb needed to be replaced. Changing bulb was a piece of cake. When I removed the instrument cluster I noticed that it had been out before. The paper seal at the back of the instruments had been torn. In my service booklet there are three modification entries, one of which reads: AY 83 Combi-instrument. Have you got any idea what was done?

Thank you for your advice.
