Cup Aerokit Installation for 996: Spoiler grill parts?

Recommended Posts

My body shop just installed Aerokit Cup (p/n 000.044.801.02) on my 996 Carrera today. Two issues:

1.) The "spoiler up" warning light on my instrument cluster would not turn off (though the Aerokit Cup spoiler doesn't raise)

2.) The two engine intake "ports" on the rear spoiler are just holes; it appears that some sort of plastic grill set should be fitted there, as it looks unfinished. But the body shop insists that no grills were supplied by Porsche with this kit. In TSB "Installing Cup Aerokit" 911(996) 3/00, I do not see these spoiler grills listed under the bill of materials (see attached). However, I can't imagine that these raw, unfinished "holes" are part of the finished product. Am I missing something here?

Any help would be much appreciated. The car looks super besides the two above issues!

I bought my 996 used so I don't know if it was supposed to come with some sort of grill on the rear spoiler but mine does not have it. I agree that it looks a bit unfinished but haven't noticed any debris getting into the engine bay from that direction.

I installed the factory Aerokit on my '99 C4. It came with a wiring harness for the rear deck that tells the remaining third brake light (CHMSL) to always work (since there is no longer the moving spoiler with the CHMSL in it) AND it tells the instrument cluster to not indicate spoiler up/down. Loren can confirm. And, yes, it came with the divider bar for the air holes like in Loren's picture.

Loren, anyone,

Any luck locating a part number for the divider in the rear spoiler?

996.512.985.00 Strip -- US MSRP $126.80

Try the folks at Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) for a much better price.

Thanks Loren..
