The speaker removal and install will be the least of the worries... how long will the engine last after a few applications?

why do you say that? anything can handle some nitrous as long as you have the fuel ect.... were not planning on doing a big shot....is there a specific reason your saying this or just b/c your one of those people who thinks nitrous blows up everything? not being a smart *** just simply asking.....

Porsche boxer engines should not be modified without serious care. By adding nitro you are increasing engine pressure and temperature. Would I do it? No? Should I want more power/torque I would look at PAG's X51 or a RUF or Gemballa mod. At least those have some serious testing behind them.

thank you.... i personally dont really know a thing about porsche's but i can tell you everything you need to know about a corvette or camaro..... the owner basically just came to me and said he wanted a nitrous kit.... so i sold him one..... he should have done some research before wanting one.... but were gonna start with a 50 shot i think that should be fine in my opnion.....i told him to not go over 100.....

oh and i got the rear speaker off.....

Is this going to be a fogger system or a direct inject style? I dont know much about nitrous, but would a simple 50 shot fogger system be easy to install on our engines? Just run the nozzle to the intake and run a wire to the WOT switch?

yes this is goin to be a single fogger set up right into the intake..... ill post pix once im done.... its alittle more complicated than just a single wire.... b/c these cars are drive by wire(meaning there is no throttle cable) so i need to wire in a TPS switch to read voltage to know when to spray.....ill keep you guys updated....

mine is a 99 so it does have a throttle cable. How much is a kit?

kits vary depending on brand and acc.

We are using an NX Wet kit with the Gen X-2 Package which comes with the bottle heater, purge, blow down tube, fuel pressure safety switch ect..... we also have a controller from Nitro dave that has a gear lock out, window switch and the TPS switch he will need all built in one..... this set up will run you alittle over 1k...... and i would pretty much recommend this set up... its the safesty way to do it...

In my opinion, installing a nitrous kit on a 911 means you have completely missed the point of what the 911 stands for.

I agree. I'm more and more convinced that true Porsche aficionados are few these days. The car is bought for its image, curb appeal and for some, raw power, to show off on the drag strip - therefore the nitro kit. Those people have no clue of what the car is all about.

Note: this is not an indictment of the original poster, who seems to be an installer, actually said he knows nothing about Porsches, and is doing this for a client. It just occurred to me... his client could go all the way, replace the boxer with a Z06 V8 add a large nitro bottle and drive the car on the drag strip and elsewhere mostly on a straight line. :)

Putting the words 911 and drag strip in the same sentence just doesn't make sense to me.

Sure the car in stock form is fast enough to hang with or beat most people but on a drag strip it won't do well enough to risk beating the car up over.

I dunno guys, why stop at the Nitrous. You can always add some neon strings arond the license plate, under the car (with different colors), do a nice paint job with vibrating flames or other urban scenery, put a big anthena on the roof, and fill the whole front trunk with a massive stereo system and a giant LCD screen out of the back window.... It may look cool, and bring a tear to your eye (sic). And spinners, dont forget those. Did you know that some tracks out here now have a line on their form that states no spinner rims alowed? Terrible.

You have never seen the movie "Bachelor Party" with Tom Hanks? If you did, remember the scene when the "ex-boyfriend" is tryng to convince Tom to trade his girl for the 911, and Tom's mechanic buddy takes off in it..... Then comes back after "pimping" it? Classic

Not to be an A$$ but I personally would not let anyone that does not know a thing about Porsche's work on an engine that can cost up to $20K to replace. The owner of that C4S got balls...lol. I like Camaros and Mustangs and they have much larger displacement. I def would tell the owner to start small and work his way up. Perhaps throw it on a Dyno attached to a diag comp and test away.

it honestly doesnt matter if its a porsche or a tractor.... every engine is an air pump..... any engine can take nitrous..... as long as it has enough fuel.... were gonna start out with a 50 shot which will be perfectly fine on the size of the engine in his car.... and i told him at the very most go to 100....

All good. Not to question your expertise. Do us a favor and tell us how it goes if possible. I am sure more then one of us is curious :)

It's probably worth mentioning that Nitrous was first adopted in German Engineering in german fighter planes. So, it's not weird to mix nitrous with another piece of german engineering, I guess :)

I have read of an article about a very competitive sprayed air cooled 911. I think the car was sponsored by Nitto or Toyo. I wish I could find it to post here.

Sprayed96SS: Please do revisit and update us. Though I'm not in market of anything to increase horsepower right now, I'm very curious how much additional power/acceleration your customer gets out of this. Kudos to you for experimenting on this.

This is older, but I just came across it searching for anyone who uses nitrous on the 996. I was debating it also, but to me nitrous is great for 1/4 cars are a quick blast here and there. I have used it on numerous cars in the past- even ran a 150 shot on a base 04 Crossfire :), but feel a car like the 911 needs something that is there all the time to really enjoy it- like a turbo or supercharger. The kits are insanely priced though, so if I do anything, I would fab up a single turbo kit and have it tuned.

Anyway, the main reason I was replying was in response to the Nitto sponsored race car- it was Eddie Bello from Bellotech. That car was a brutal 1/4 mile contender and was known for standing straight up on the rear bumper- I was told most of the pics of it in the air were taken on the 1-2 shift :).

I was wondering if there was anything on the forum about nitrous oxide,

and well sure thing there was, I know this topic is old now, but I just have to reply.

If you learn a bit about the Porsche 911 there's one thing everybody knows & thats the

996 Cracked Cylinder Heads syndrome problem.

So would you really want to fit a nitrous oxide (NOS) kit to a car with a habit for

Cracked Cylinder Heads....

I was on You Tube and looking at guy's in there Dressed Up TIN OF BEAN boyracer cars,

like Toyota Supra's,EVO's & Subaru Impreza's

(which are all good fast cars that would in the rear view mirror scare most).

They where joy racing over taking & leaving for dust the likes of Lamborghini Ferraies & Porsche's. Theses for sure had Nitrous Oxide on board.

I'm not against NOS cars (I think it's pretty cool & Impressive)

But if you have a NOS kit car & out run a car that does not, thats just CHEATING.

I'm not so sure about that guys. Speed and power are always part of the equation, and someone who might have purhcased a used C4S and wants some ooomph may choose this solution. If speed and power weren't part of the package, Porsche wouldn't make a Turbo, GT2, GT3 etc. There are plenty of examples of engine swaps in older Porsches to achieve the same thing...more power. Someone did not necessarily buy this car for its curb appeal alone. They abviously think that the Porsche platform is one they would be rather be in going fast. I certainly can't agrue with that.

And as to bling and modifying Porsches, between after market wheels, skirts, rear wings, front spoilers, lowering, short shift kits, and.... factory offered painted interior consols, aluminum and graphite shifters and brake handles, graphite door handles, graphite steering wheels, alcantara interiors, SPORT Exhaust (that always makes me laugh), custom coloured seat belts, custom coloured guages, aluminum rings on the guages (I chuckle at that one too), Porsche appeals to someone who likes to make his car differrent. Bling to some, different to others. I love the marque. And I love the fact that you can have one that is probably different from everybody elses.
