Good news my car still has 3 weeks warranty left. so Porsche will cover it. Will the new RMS seal finally fix this problem? Also, the Service Manager said that his tech. was going to check my case bolts to make sure that I have the latest bolts. I am not sure what the bolt fix is about. Maybe a source of more oil leaks? My 996 is a 2003 with 11K mi.

Is there anything else I should have checked before I go out of warrany?

Thanks!

Mffarrell, well good thing you still have warranty left on your car! I don't think the RMS is every permanently fixed.

Does the oil have to be drained when replacing the seal?

Not for the main seal but I think they drain some to do the IMS.

Loren,

How would you check a RMS for seepage without pulling the tranny? I had no visual indication of a leak, but some how the dealer said that I had seepage. Is there a way to inspect the seal without removing the tranny?

Thanks!
