Improving FM radio reception

Hi,

Does anyone know how to improve the FM radio reception of CDR22? Will the DSP unit help? After-market antenna, maybe? My 2000 Boxster has amp and door speakers.

I'm trying not to replace the system because I don't drive much and kind a like to keep everything original, but hate the fact that radio reception is pretty bad in certain parts of the road I drive often. I don't have this problem with my Audi Allroad which has Bose system.

Appreciate any ideas/opinions...

Hi Iwan,

I'll be interested to see if there are any good suggestions here as well...I have the same problem in my '03. When my car was new I took it into the dealer for this exact problem. At that time I was told Porsche focused on the performance of the car and the performance of my stereo system was secondary for the sports car. I did have the windshield replaced and was hopeful at that time the reception would improve. No luck.

My Cayenne stereo system is night and day different to that of my Boxster in terms of reception.

Drill a hole in the fender and mount an antenna....

The windshield antenna has an electric amp/booster mounted behind the A-pillar trim on the passenger side. The booster is grounded to the car body. Some people have removed the booster and sanded the area to improve the electrical contact.

The other thing I see once in a while, is that if the windshield has been replaced the antenna connector may not have been connected.

One of the biggest reason I replaced my head unit, my 79 chevy work van gets better reception!

Im sorry guys,

but I just have to say it becker system simply sucks.

Did reception improve when you replaced the head unit only?

Can you give any more info onthis connector? I believe this is my problem since having the windsheild replaced?
