Possible radiator drain plug?

Recommended Posts

It's on the driver rear bottom side,it's blue and looks like it is removable with a screw. Anyone know if that is a drain plug before I remove it?

Yes, it is. The only reason I know is because I just broke mine yesterday. Be extremely careful. I'd recommend going to the dealer and getting a spare "just in case" because breakage often happens with this plug. I can't believe, in all honesty, that so many other things are done right, but your car can be crippled because some moron wanted to save 12 cents on a plug by making it out of plastic rather than steel...

Be aware: I had a hell of a time getting one from my local Porsche dealer...he kept insisting that wasn't from a Boxster radator, but from a 944.

Just out of curiosity....2000 S-type?

How did you break it?

Yeah tell me about it......my radiator is leaking on the driver side where the coolant line connects to the plastic inlet(outlet?). What crap,my Nissan Quest has a fully metal radiator.

Funny you mention that. I talked to Jeff @ Sunset and he said the 944s radiator had a blue plug that sounds like what I described to him off of my 986.

Do you happen to have the part no. for the drain plug? Does it have that little metal part attached to it or is that a seperate part no.?
