Need Some Urgent Help: Boxster Seat Fitment

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I need some urgent help...I am buying an 18'' Kirkey sit for my Boxster (986 USA), but I am not sure if it will fit.

I contacted Kirkey and they sent me the 'shop drawing' below...which is not of big help since I have no idea of the clearance on the Boxster.

Thanks,

Gustavo

I would email the folks at Brey-Krause (http://www.bkauto.com/). They have likely made brackets for most seats.

Thanks Loren,

I just emailed them...

I have not seen any brackets for Kirkeys in their website, but hopefuly they will be able to tell me wheter the seat fits, based on the dimensions I attached.

Hi,

You might want to buy some slider hardwear. The sliders on my 997 are 16" apart if I remember right.

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the tip. The seats will actually come with brackets and sliders, which are in fact 16'' as you suggested.

My main concern is whether I have enough space on the Boxster to accomodate the width of the seat (shoulders and waist)

Thanks,

Gus

Gus and Others,

I just measured the 17" vs. 18". Both have the exact same height and width at the "wings". Both have the Porsche "universal" 16" offset slider rails. The width difference only comes into play where your hips / thighs are, where one is 17" and the other 18", which I have to guess is about the same as the OEM seat in the Boxster.

These seats were mounted in a "tiny" 1992 C2 (964). I've seen huge seats like the 996 GT3 seats in the same car, as well as a Boxster. The previous owner of the 964 said one of the reasons he went with Kirkey was that it, unlike the Recaro, would fit the car and fit him (6'4" tall).
