How bad is this

Just pulled the water pump off...what a fun job..looked at it and only 1/4 of the black propeller was there...no sight of the other 3/4 of it...where should I look for the rest so I don't end up with a blown engine. I did drive the car back home, about 3 miles when it went bad, so where ever it will go, it may be there already. Need to put it back together on Sunday...Thanks

I had this happen once on a 986 but loads of time on VW's. I collected as many of the pieces as possible but sure I missed a few.... so far so good with no problems. Try your best to find them but don't lose any sleep over it.

Bummer! It might be a good idea to reverse flush the coolant system and collect the water that comes out to see if you can "piece together" the impeller blades that self-destructed. If you can hook up a hose nozzle onto one of the coolant system hoses and seal it with a hose clamp, you should be able to get a strong flow.
