oil plug location and torque

Hi All,

Noticed today that there is too much oil in my carrera 997 S (Has just been serviced). Because I don't want to wait for an appointment I would like to drain a bit of oil myself. Just checking the plug is the one at the lowest point of the carter? What is the correct torque for this plug? What would be recommended as a correct level (It is now slightly more than Max (indicationn sometimes shows max and sometimes above Max). Should I drain until the indicator shows middle?

See the 996 DIY - the oil change DIY is the same for 996 and 997 (and 986 and 997 for that matter).

The easiest way to remove a little extra oil (to me) is to take the oil filter off - empty the oil out of it and put it back on.

That's a good idea. Can I just turn the filter off, empty it and put it back on?

Can the filter be 'handturned'or do I need a special tool?

What oil level should i go for? middle?

See the DIY or do a search for the oil filter tool (74 mm 14 flutes as I recall).

I keep my oil level in middle - not too high and not too low.
