I am a new owner of the Durametric diagnostic tool. I have located fault codes, 9114 PCM, 38 DTC. I was unable to locate on Renntech any info regarding them. Anyone know where to locate info regarding fault codes ?

THANKS,

ED

Fault code 9114 PCM2 timeout (if control unit coded)

Possible cause of fault

- PCM2 in production mode.

- Due to a faulty component, the PCM2 system has switched off or is faulty

Does your PCM work? If not, then make sure everything is properly plugged in.

If it does work it could be a fault that has since been corrected and the fault was not reset. In that case just clear the fault and see if it comes back.

Loren,

I am a little confused regarding the difference between the ECU and PCM... and their location. What symptom should I look for to determine that it is functioning properly ?

Thanks,

Ed

P.S. Thanks for the great source to Porsche fans.

Your fault is in your PCM (Porsche Communication Management). This the NAV unit in your front dash. It has almost nothing to do with the ECU (also known as DME) which is your engine control computer (mounted under the carpet under your rear window).

To diagnose anything further on your PCM2 - other than a loose/broken cable -- you will likely need a PST or PIWIS tester.
