Carbon canister for 996

Recommended Posts

Hello.

According to my PET (23 08 2006),

there is a carbon canister, numbered 996 201 221 09 for 996.

Is there only one type of canisiter for 996, or several type of a canister for 996?

My 996 still have a problem of rough idle with the intermittent buzzing sounds from the right fender area when the engine is warm.

Yeaterday, I tried to exchange the carbon canister.

I odered the new canister and got the new one numbered 996 201 221 08.

I removed the old canister and found the shape of the upper part is different from the new one.

There is no clear print of parts number on it.

Exchanged it yeaterday, my idle seems good today.

I am carefully following up now.

My 996 is 2000 model, RoW car.

M9602-68Y engine, 6 speed MT, LHD.

X51 option eqquiped.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you, Loren.

After removed the old canister, I found the parts.

It is 996 201 221 05.

As I mentioned, the upper part is quite different from 996 201 221 08 and 996 201 221 05.

Does anyone know the difference between 996 201 221 05 and 996 201 221 08?

Just a improved type ?

Thanks in advance.

It is thought that the trouble of the long time was solved by replacing the carbon canister.

There is no intermittent buzzing sounds.

Idling seems to be stable not flactuating too much.

Moreover, RKAT gose up about -0.6 from -3.6.

I hope I can say good-bye to the fault code P1128 and P1130.

Did this clear the 2 fault codes? I have th exact same 2 codes and I have a either a faulty carbon canister or fuel vent valve. Please advise.
