I just spent about $1,500 to replace my main display in my Cayenne Turbo. OUCH! The halogen backlight went out in the digital screen. No way to repair it..only replace the entire gauge cluster. Since then the display always returns to Average Speed when I shut the car off. I always used to keep it at Range and never remember having to cycle through to it every time I would drive it. Now, It always goes back to Average Speed and I have to cycle to range....obviously unless I just want to keep it at Average Speed. I already selected Reset to Factory Settings to see if that fixed it (it fixed other problems before) but I'm still coming up with Average Speed when I start the car even after I shut it off with Range selected. Any suggestions? Anyone have this happen before?

Mine does this, I assumed it was normal.

Never seen one does that, mine must be broken also.

No, before I replaced the unit, Range would stay up there even after shutting if off and then returning.

Yeah I have been trying to figure that one out since I got my CT last year and still have not found a way...always shows avg speed :cursing:

Mine also always defaults to average speed.

I had 04 S, dealer replaced the cluster when there was a flickering problem in the. I have seen the same thing happen as well (display was always resetting to ,i think, avg mph display). Raised it up with the dealer, they said it was the same behaviour as other cars they have.

I noticed that the cluster was with newer design (the lettering, colors, etc were different). I guess some incompability with 04 electronics, or the cluster behaviour is different in the newer models. I noticed a pattern of a lot of electrical issues root coused to as having different firmware versions of controlles in the vehicle (mechanic mentioned 20+ controllers networked in the car).
