Rear Wiper Rocker Switch

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about doing a garage door opener hack. Which will be great because it will fill the final blank switch on my dash. I already have the footwell light switch for the OBC so I need something else that won't look too out of place.

I saw that there is a 996 Rear Window Wiper rocker switch, PN: 996.613.136.00. It seems like it may look alright and comes in gloss.

Does anyone have a picture of this switch?

Can you install it upside down?

Thanks!

I used the Targa Switch for my garage door opener hack. It is the bottom switch on the left. Any matt finish switch can be changed to gloss by using a high gloss clear spray. Several light coats does the trick.

The part number is 996.613.155.00.A02 from Sunset and costs 26.13 plus shipping and handling.

another option........

go to the auction site and pick up a used homelink unit for < $20. Then you can put it anywhere you want in the car (obviously your limited to where the box will fit but lots of options). Hard wire it into the system and you can forget about ever having to change batteries like you would w/ the opener hack. I chose to put it in the batwing and power it from the phone power cord.....

indicator light and all.....

I thought long and hard about using the targa switch but had a brainstorm one day and found a homelink for ~ $12. Took about an hour or so to dremel/cut the batwing holes just right and put some plugs on the end. Works perfectly and was 1/2 the cost of the switch alone.

Very Nice! Cassie

The best garage hack I've seen by far,,,

not changing the battery is awsome but more advantage is being able to control multiple doors(security gates) + even my porch lights,,,
