Morning,

Looking for some help on this oddball issue with the oil sensor.

Car is fine and driving normally. Get an error message on the display that reads "Oil Level Measurement Error - Workshop."

At the same time, the oil temperature gauge goes to 0.

A few minutes later the indicator goes off, and the gauge returns to normal.

Obviously there is some commonality here, as the two are tied together.

Deal indicated that the oil temp sensor, and the oil level sensor, are two different things but obviously if there are (which I'm not sure is the case), then they tie in together somehow because these two issues are 100% tied together.

Any advice would be great, as I don't want to do the trial and error thing at 100/hour.

Regards

Steve

PIWIS is Porsche's official shop test and diagnostic tool.

It can test specific components and record faults both pending and current.

This tool should be able to tell you where the problem is. It can be used while you are driving (by a second person) to capture any faults that only occur then.

  • 1 month later...

I had the same fault pop up last summer; 'OIL LEVEL MONITOR FAILURE' with a lifeless needle. Without cause/reason the needle would come to life and the fault would disappear. I spoke to the dealer who had never seen/heard of this one. PIWI indicated a new sensor was needed. Replaced it and have had no problem since.
