dme swap

Recommended Posts

I have an 01 996 tt that is stock, I purchased a used dme clone with fvd stage 2 programming. There's no porsche dealer nearby but thhe mechanic has a pst2 tool. The car won't start with the new dme even though he overwrote the vin on the old dme. Is it the immobilizer that is causing problems? can it be bypassed? Does it matter if the donor car was a ROW and mine is us spec? both were 01

You need both the DME security code and immobilizer codes to change the DME.

Depends on which RoW program - there are several that he can choose from. The main RoW program will ignore the second O2 sensors on US cars.

Of course depending on where you live you won't likely pass a smog test.

The program is a stage 2 fvd brombacher program. They don't test for smog in south Texas (yet) that is why i'll keep the original dme just in case.
