Hello all!

I just got a 2004 Cayenne from an auction and I'm about to bring it in to the dealer with my laundry list of problems. Any chance someone can help run my vin and tell me what the vehicle's history so I can be prepared when going in. Please PM me if so. thanks much!

Or you could wait until you take it to the dealer but all you will find is the list of factory installed equipment. In order to get a repair history you have to go to the dealer that actually did the service. It would seem that in these days of computer communication you should be able to get a complete repair history by going to any dealer--but it's not available from a Porsche dealer. I understand that BMW dealers can access a complete vehicle history--but not Porsche.

Loren: Ithink you missed the point of my previous post. Even if you go to a Porsche dealer the only service history you will be able to get is the service history that particuler dealer performed. That is to say if it was serviced at another Porsche dealer that history is not available on the dealers computer. My reference to the BMW dealer was that from my understanding, if you own a BMW and go to a BMW dealer you can get a complete maintenance history of all work that was performed on the car at other BMW dealers.

work done on mine at my dealer is not even available to Porsche. Dealers own computer systems vary widely in capability.

My understanding is that any dealer can see work done by other Porsche dealers but they won't share it - because they are afraid of liability and privacy lawsuits.
