Replacing 987 climate contol unit

Does anyone know if you can replace the standard 987 heat/air unit ( No. 99765310109), with a climate control unit (No. 99765311109FMH). The units are the same size and almost identical and it appears the wiring harness is compatible. So my question is can you just upgrade to a climate control unit by just replacing the "head unit"?

For 987's to MY07 it is: 997.653.113.12.FMH

For 987's MY08 on it is: 997.653.113.13.FMH

Sorry, I do not know the difference.

Till MY 07 button lettering = ECO // MY 08 button lettering = OFF that's all.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread. Do you guys know if this is really plug & play? I have an '08 987s w/heated seats that I factory ordered. My only regret is not getting climate control.

Any guess as to the cost of the control unit?

Even if it is plug 'n play you might also need a PIWIS to turn the functions on and set country codes. Not sure though - never tried it.
