Loose front lip spoiler

Recommended Posts

This past weekend I noticed a bunch of black stuff dangling down from the front of my wife's '05 997 (non-S, tip). I got under the front and saw the black rubber front lip spoiler sticking down from being scraped on low driveways, and managed to push some of it back in to the rectangular slots, but several rubber tabs were destroyed so it didn't fit very well. Here's what it looked like (part highlighted in yellow):

Looking at the online PET, I found this parts diagram

and part 17 is listed as 997 505 557 00 01C (spoiler, satin black), and the renntech price search says MSRP $48.74. Is this the correct part number (several 997 505 557 spoilers are listed)? Do I just pull the old one out and the press the tabs on the new one in to the rectangular cutouts on the bottom of the front bumper to replace? Is this the only part I need, or is there something else I'm missing?

I think you've got the right part ID'd. It should simply have tabs that fit in holes underneath the front plastic bumper/fascia.

Based on the picture you posted it might be a better idea to simply pull it off and not replace it. It appears that the wife tends to scrap a lot of driveways or objects (ie. parking lot wheel stoppers).

I don't believe it will affect handling or air flow to any great extent.

  • 3 years later...

I just destroyed mine parking like a schmuck (concrete parking dividers...). Is the part number the same for a 2006 C2S 6-speed? I also need the 2 side rubber scoops that are perpindicular - I believe they control back air pressure from radiators. Anybody know part numbers for these also? Thanks in advance.
