MD state emissions, have codes

Recommended Posts

It's time to take my 00 C4 thru emissions. . The codes 1411 and 0410, which is SAI, pops up and I know I need to replace the change over valve. My question is if I just clear the codes with my code reader and then take it thru inspection, will I fail the inspection. I have time to replace it, but just wondering if I can get by inspection with clearing the codes. I've been trying to find the valve online, but haven't had any luck. Can someone direct me as to where I can order it besides the dealer? thanks

I do not know about Maryland inspections but you would fail in California. It takes several "drive cycles" to clear any pending codes (cleared or not) to reset the emissions test counter.

The DME is designed that way to keep people from "cheating" on smog tests.

again, they are close to each other and cost very little. As long as everything is out of the way and you are in there might as well replace both. Also, just be careful with the little black plastic tubes...they can be very brittle. I broke a section of mine, but was able to use some shrink wrap and repair it with no issues. I was replacing my starter motor at the time so i had the air intake, throttle body and alternator out of the way. Then had access to both the valves.
