another blown engine..my 2nd one...possible problem?

Recommended Posts

MY 98 boxter with 3.4 engine started to make strong metallic "clank" noise. I switched the engine off right away. The Durametric sais cylinder misfires on cylinders on one side. I cleared the codes, and sterted the engine. Was idling perfectly.

However the next day I started the engine again, again perfectly, I switched the gear on, and the engine stalled. After it won´t turn around anymore.

I´ve been trying to turn the engine with a wrench from the crankshaft, but it only turn about 1/5th turn.

What could be the reason? One of the distribution chains? Or...

Thanks in advance

Kare

Sounds like something catastrophic. Sounds like something broke inside the engine preventing you from turning the crank.....

could be IMS or D-Chunk

It definitely sounds like you have some internal mechanical issues.. It sounds like the IMS..

You should not have fired the engine up again after that code and the mechanical sounds until the IMS flange was pulled and the bearing inspected..

We could have saved the engine with our IMS retrofit procedure... Its too late now.
