Tinny sound after installing catbypass on my Cayenne S

Recommended Posts

I have a 2006 Cayenne S and just had secondary Catbpypass pipes installed from Fabspeed. The car sounds great when you sit and blip the throttle. But if i roll the windows down and accelerate hard, I noticed that around 3000-3500 RPMs I get a tinny vibration sound. Once it shifts to the next gear, its gone. Its only evident during a hard acceleration. Could this be from pipes not installed properly? Bad/Loose Exhaust system? My buddy said it sounds like a Glass Pack muffler or Cherry Bomb muffler. Its not the ideal sound id like...any input??? Thanks

The S exhaust at full revs can sound a bit like an F1 car, with the bypass pipes on in makes that sound even more pronounced, get someone else to drive it past you at full bore, it sound very different outside than inside

I love it

Thin wall tubing sounds that way.

It does it on the stock pipes also

Check all heat shields as the new bypass can cause new resonances that cause structures to vibrate differently than before. Had this on a Kleemann MB G55 exhaust set up. Was the heat shield under the drivers seat., Very annoying and easily fixed.

Correct, the Fabspeeds are actually thicker than the stock exhaust piping

No, I am just saying thin wall exhaust tubing (like racing pipes) sounds that way.

Usually racing pipes are lighter and stronger than OEM.
