Recommended Posts

Hi. 'just bought a 2000 C2 with a reman engine (replaced a year ago). When the Porsche dealership replaces an engine do they reuse any parts from the old engine? I ask cause i have no maint recs and i wanna know if I should replace things like thermostat, water pump, spark plugs, spark plug tube (Orings) power steering fluid. Do they replace the tranny too (it's a Tiptronic)?

I have seen two or 3 "remanufactured" 996 Carrera engines before they were fitted. They look brand new to me, and come absolutely complete with all ancilliaries, ready to install. They are even filled with Mobil 1. I don't believe they remanufactured at all - at least, not the ones I've seen - not unless they use all new external components, castings, etc.

Thanks guys. Yeah, this thing looks complete and brand new. i had a list of things to change, like the thermostat, flush the pwr steering fluid, change spark plugs, but I guess all that's new.
