pieces of foam out of a/c duct

Recommended Posts

I have a 99 C2 tip with 61K miles, recently I noticed pieces of foam(or what looks like foam) coming out of my A/C ducts when I run A/C fan on high. Very small peices, almost didn't notice them until I was cleaning interior. Any idead what this is? Is there foam insulation on the duct work?

Thanks

Grayish black color? If so, it is likely the foam that helps seal connections in the ducting and/or the vent.

Please do a search, it is discussed here (including pics. + solution) in the 986 forum a while ago, the foam is glued on the perforated metal air mix flap inside the unit and became porous by age. You can expect hot/cold air mix problems in a short time from now.
