Throttle Body- PSM ABS Lights

Recommended Posts

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a 3.4L 996 C4 w/ e-gas

I was driving yesterday and my PSM/ABS lights came on (brakes are worn, but still have meat; no break wear light yet) However, when this happened there was no throttle response. If I floored the car nothing would happen for about 3 seconds then the car would gradually accelerate. I pulled over and took off my intake going to the throttle body. I heard a high pitch noise coming from the throttle body; like the motor was trying to adjust the positioning. I had a friend jump in the car and floor the pedal..... the throttle body would very slowly begin to open then speed up some, however, only opening about 25% of the way.

I tried resetting the battery and unplugging the clip form the e-gas throttle body and reconnecting to make sure it was making contact. On the third time, this resolved the problem and I took the car for a mile drive. everything was fine. I turned the car off, then restart to leave. At this time, the lights came back on and the problem with the throttle body came back.

Any Help?

Greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Check your brake lights - do they work?

Clean your throttle body and MAF.

brake lights work.

throttle body wasnt dirty but still removed and cleaned. I even took the plastic house off the gears to make sure they were not binding up. all were clean and when manually turned... rotated smoothly.

I tried resetting the battery again (20 mins) and tried to start the car with the PSM/ABS fuse pulled. Of course the PSM light did not light up on the dash, however, the ABS still did.

When I had my girlfriend step on the gas I noticed the throttle body, again, hesitating along with it chattering as it was opening. Again, only opening 1/2 way at full throttle.

Could I need the ECU reflashed or a new throttle body. I dont understand as to why the PSM/ABS lights are associated with the TB not working.??????????? :(

PSM will not likely come on until you drive the car.

Find someone with the Durametric software, a PST2 or PIWIS tester and have them run diagnostics on the car.

Could be a bad MAF and/or throttle sensor.

Thanks for your help. Im taking it to Orbit Racing in Rivera Beach FL next monday. Hope this isnt expensive!!!!

If anyone else has anything else to try... PLEASE, let me know

How can you check the correct motor management/throttle operation with the intake hose, inclusive MAF, disconnected from the throttle body on a running engine, it's normal, under this circumstances, that the engine shows a strange behavior. You need a diagnostic tool for troubleshooting, what you doing is messing around IMHO, and that is expensive at the end.
