Dome Light Assembly/Lens Removal-How to?

Can't seem to find an answer from the dealer or online, so I'm going to give it a go here! :D

I want to remove the dome light assembly to hardwire an Escort. As I tried prying from the groove in the rear, as described in another thread, the assy would not dislodge, but instead, I was successful in cracking the Lens. :o

Has anyone been sucessful in removing and re-installing the Dome Light Assy?

I recently swapped the dome light cover for one in leather. There are no screws retaining the dome light, just two spring clips located next to the windshield side of the light. There are two retainer tabs on the homelink side. Prying from the windshield side will cause the assembly to rotate towards the homelink buttons.

An alternate method is to remove the dome light cover per the method outlined in the manual (see the section regarding manual closing of the sunroof for the coupe model). Removal for the Cab should be similar. You can then access the spring clips of the dome light from the back. Using your fingers to squeeze the clips allows easy removal of the assembly without prying on the lens.

I will try to photograph and upload a picture of the old cover I have this weekend. I will highlight the retention points discussed above.

Bringing this up again. The coupe and the cab are not the same. Anyone know the answer for the cab before I break something. I have the '09 C2S Cab also

Youtube video for Cab. Very similar to coupe. Note that you pry on the windshield side of the lens assembly to remove.
