Rear space heating faulty?

Recommended Posts

I have a question about 2004 CS.

A few days ago, when we were driving home in a winter conditions with my wife and child in the rear seats, I noticed that there was very little air coming from the rear vents. Even though the hot air was blowing from the front vents, there was very little amount of cold air coming from the rear vents. There was even no significant difference if the rear vents were opened or closed.

The car heats up just fine with only the front vents working, but I still think this is strange. This issue has been present for a week now and it might have been there for a longer time but I just didn't notice it.

The car was at the shop 10 days ago for the main battery replacement and the tester showed no faults!

Any ideas?

The rear vents do not have much flow, ditto in summertime with AC on, unless if there is a double AC unit mounted (split system front/rear)

Is the rear blower fan running? Put your ear near the intake which is located on the left side of the cargo area and give a listen.

I think we need to know if he has 4 zone climatronic or just 2 zone. If you have only 2 zone (no rear controls) the vents share the same blower as the front. From my experience, the front blower is does not flow enough for both the front and rear vents to be fully open...if i close my front center vents, the rear vents provide reasonable air flow....but if the front vents are open, then very little are gets to the back.
