Cayenne S cooling fan stays on

04 Cayenne S, engine was stone cold, but engine cooling fan stayed on after ignitionn switched off, stayed on long enough to drain the battery, pulled fuse 1 and it went off

What brings the fan on/off? Is it just the senors located in the "distrubtor coling tube"? 99660641000

Hi, temp dial on dash reads normal ie; water temp about 70 degrees ©, never goes over 80 degrees even with the fuse pulled

Outside temp reads 4 degrees ©

Part number 99660641000 seems to be the original number and still valid, can you expand on your comment?

You will need a PIWIS diagnostic or similar tool to read out the fault codes which are stored in the control box memory, its possible to check the engine temp. directly from the DME etc.. Air conditioning system problem and faulty control box are also possible, without the codes its guessing.

Sorry I might be getting confused with the Touareg. There was a updated temp sensor to resolve this issue on the V8's.
