CD eject problem common?

Recommended Posts

I always need to play with the eject button 5-10 times before the CD finally comes out. Problem started right away - first week after purchase. Its a 2005 CPO I purchased 18 months ago with the CDR-24 unit.

The CD comes out some and then goes right back in. After enough tries it finally comes out enough for me to grab it. I waited too long and the original warranty is over - my bad - and the CPO warranty won't cover "wear and tear" items.

I was wondering if this was a common issue and there was a simple fix. Afterall, the CD eject function technology is so simple and reliable in PCs, ect.

thx.

Not much help, but there have been many problems reported on the CDR-24. My unit, from a '08 boxster, will to go back to the dealer a second time in 6 months as the radio now won't power-up at all. Since the radio is not a user serviceable item, I suggest taking back to the dealer before CPO expires.

Same thing happens with my CDR24 on my MY06. My way around it is leaving the eject button pressed until cd comes out. Usually couple of seconds.

Sounds like I am not completely alone. And the funny thing is that I waited this long to post this issue and since I did, the CD eject function is working just fine. Let's see for how long.

If it goes all bad again I am going to look for a diy to remove the facia of the CD deck so I can take a look inside for something obvious.

I could also try another Porsche dealer south of me - where I actually purchased the car - and see if they want to cover under the CPO warranty. The local dealer in West Palm Beach is no help at all.

thx all for your replies.

I have almost the same problem on my 997 MY05 - I'd love to find a DIY solution. In my case, I press eject (eject process starts immediately) but 9/10 times, the CD doesn't come out enough for me to grab it. I now have a pair of tweezers in the center console to pull it out (but obviously, if I'm not careful, the disc gets scratched). At first, I figured it was the discs I was using (I burn MP3 CD's so I can carry more music with me) since they seemed a slightly heavier build than a standard audio CD that you buy. However, even audio CD's are doing the same.

Gary.
