2005 Cayenne S Rough Miss

Recommended Posts

I am looking at buying a 2005 Cayenne S with 108,000 miles. The V8 engine has a rough miss. Do you think that one or more of the platinum spark plugs have failed? If I bought a code reader, do you think the computer would have stored a code? It is a clean, one owner car so these may be highway miles.

Thanks for your prompt reply. It appears that the 2003 and 2004 Cayenne S had coil problems. Did the 2005 Cayenne S also have coil problems?

the Fiat 600 abarth may be your next car I think

Yes, the TSB covers all years and the coil packs have been updated 2 or 3 times.

And they just failed two times within 30 miles on a 2010 Transsyberia with 12,000 miles. Looks like they still don't have it right.

Coil pack failure, injectors and possibly the main ECU was not on mine, but on a friend's Transsyberia in another state. The servicing dealer said it was the 3rd one in 48 hrs at their dealership alone. He was so disgusted that he had them buy it from him at a very large loss. He's now in a Volvo XC90.

His experience has me very warily looking over my shoulder. My next one will most probably be another oil burner.

The listing dropped off of eBay yesterday, so I called the dealer today. They replaced four of the eight ignition coils, and now the car is fine. Thanks for your help!
