GT3 Transmission

Recommended Posts

I am new to the GT3; now have a 2007 .The transmission seems noisy at idle in neutral but with the clutch in, the noise goes away. Is this normal or an indication that the throwout bearing is bad? Also what are the best and easiest mods to improve the hp? It has a Sharkswerks resonator bypass and sounds great but it doesn't add any hp and may loose a few as I have been told. Any input would be appreciated.

Is it a rattle? If so it's probably noise from the Lightweight flywheel and is totally normal. If it was your throw-out bearing it would "squeal" after dis- engaging the clutch.

Regarding HP read the newest issue of Excellence magazine.. There is HP out there if you have DEEP pockets... B)

Congrats on procuring my dream car...

Congrats on procuring my dream car...

Phillip,

Thanks for the info; it is a rattle so I'll rest a little easier. Just got the last issue of Excellence in the mail yesterday and I'm not sure my pockets are that deep. The GT3 is my dream car as well and had to go thru a bit to get it but am extremely glad I was able to acquire one.

I can confirm this is normal also on GT3's - Mine does it as well and Porsche Mechanics argue this is because of the more heavy duty engine/transmission/clutch meant to be able to endure the release of the HP cavaleriebiggrin.gif .
