40 digit code

Boxster 986 1997 living down under.

From these forums it appears that I would need a 40 digit code to be able to get new keys.

I have attached a picture of a code in the maintenance book, but do not know if this number is something to do with the 40 digit code.

I would appreciate any help here, as documentation for this car is a bit scarce.

Those codes are your VIN, model type, engine, and transmission codes followed by your cars option codes.

The 40 digit key code is found on a tag that is (or was) attached to the key. Each key has its own unique 60 digit code that is required to program the key to the car.
