It is a very good modification because the original diverter valves( Bosch), according to some people on Renntech and 6speed , are known to fail. Good move! I got a completely stock car and did exactly the same mod but of course it was more expensive for me rolleyes.gif. A little bit of a pain to install.... I have replaced the F hose at the same time...

Alex,

I have a spare set of the original Bosch DV's from my 2003 TT. They had only done about 6000 miles when I switched them out for EVOM units - I was having a bunch of upgrades done at the time and it seemed like a good idea.

They were working fine when I removed them. PM me if you're interested in them.

But like others have said - if you're going to change them - it's a good idea to upgrade to billet style unit :-)

Tim

AP's are a piston style DV as opposed to the Bosch OEM DV's which are diaphram type.

The piston style is lubricated with grease and that means they will probably have to be serviced (re-greased) over time. They seem to be all simialr with a forged or machined body/piston with o-ring seals.

The diaphram DV's are plastic/rubber construction and are not serviceable. Internals similar to a toilet fill valve-flexible rubber diaphram which deflects to bleed the pressure.

The piston style withstands more pressure than the OEM's.

DV's won't give you any extra power by themselves, it's the higher boost that they withstand.

If you aren't having a problem, and aren't boost embellished-you don't need them.
