Ok so, I started my car yesterday and I got a engine light…took to an auto center and they are saying that I have the following errors: P0300, P0301, 302, 303 (basically all cylinders) and P2187 for bank 1 and bank2…ok, so what is going on ???!!!

This is what I know:

P03000's - random multiple misfire on cylinders

P2197 - BK1 and BK2 - too lean idle speed

Help!!!

P2197 Lambda correction downstream, bank 1 – rich/lean control limit exceeded

Possible fault causes:

- Leakage in exhaust system between the two oxygen sensors

- Oxygen sensor upstream faulty (contaminated/aged)

Have you changed anything on the car recently?

Bad gas?

No, I have not...but I have to say that I did put gas the day before.

Do you think that this could be the reason behind all these errors? Is this an easy fix?

This is a very common issue with 997s; unfortunately... I would say if you put gas in the car, make sure the gas cap was tightened all the way... also, where did you put gas in your car? Surprisingly my car does not like the premium gas from costco or exxon, i only use Sunnoco, go figure...

So, When I first purchased the car, I had this problem, here are the things they did:

They said the coil pack on cylinder 1 and 3 are cracked... They replaced that..

The problem came back.. I went to a different dealer, Porsche of Rockville in MD, Danny Slaine who is one of the most knowledgeable Porsche mechanics works there, he said the problem can be my lifters in the car, so he replaced the lifters, and believe it or not, the car sounded so much better and smoother after... drove a lot better too...

He also said the coil pack on cylinders 2-4 are cracked two, so with the combination of all those things, knock on wood, I haven't had the problem for a while...

If it is just bad gas (crossing fingers)...will a octane booster and filling up with a good gas do it??? Will I have to ask someone to reset the engine light or it goes off by itself??

It will depend on what is wrong with the gas. A common contaminate in gas - is water. If that is the case then you will need a gas line dryer like HEET or a similar product.

If the problem is cured then the light will turn off ofter a number of drive cycles (starts and stops) without seeing the fault. Or, it can be reset - but in that case it will turn back on if the fault is still present.
