  1. Mun802 Sometimes it can be a simple fix. I had that problem. Turned out it was the chrome muffler tip. Maybe your rattle is as simple. :)
  2. Hi, I was taking a joy ride this afternoon on the highway and a piece of a metal hook flew into my windshield. At first I thought someone shot at me or something, that is how the noise was. I am looking at my options on how to get the repair done, 1) File a claim with my insurance company 2) Do the repair and pay out of pocket... My concern with the first option is carfax. I am worried my car might get flagged a car with accident. No Damage was done to the body, and my car has been way too pampered to this point, so I hate to file a claim with insurance and end up getting a carfax report.... Anyone had any issues like mine? IF it helps, my insurance company is Geico. Bobby
  3. Hey Don I do not know what your problem is, but one piece of advice, do not take your car to Porsche of Tysons. I live by their dealership but I always take my car to Rockville for any issues. I had many problems with HBL when I had Ny Mercedes. When I boîte a Porsche the manager at HBL assured me that my problems would not continue when I take my C2S 911 there. I found out that's not the case when I took my car to Tysons and got in a fight with the service manager and he was trying hard to get my car's warranty voided. After I got my car back in worse shape than I took it in and went to Rockville, the head mechanic there spent the first week fixing everything Porsche of Tysons screwed up on my car. The Porsche of rockville has one of the most well known Porsche head mechanics and a much friendlier staff. Good luck
  4. I have a 2006 C2S and like yourself, my check engine light would come on after the first cold start, not always but a few times a month. At the end my car was taken to the shop and number of things were done to fix it, clean out the lifters, if wrong oil is used, or oil has been sitting for a while it causes issues... change the coil packs for the second time ( A few of the new packs had hair line cracks in them) changed the plugs Changed air filter knock on woooooooooooood it hasn't happened for a year. Good luck man, it is frustrating.
  5. I am not sure if this will help, but my car had the same problem, and here are the things that was done, I am not sure which helped, but one did: Change all coil packs, sometimes they have cracks not visible with eye. Changed all Plugs Change oil (Sometimes oil gets a bit old) the cars are very sensitive Replaced all the lifters ( At any time through life of the car, if bad oil was used, or sat for a while) lifters can get sticky cleaning the Intake. Hope you best, it is really frustrating. Bobby
  6. I looked for the instructions on doing the coils and plugs and didn't find it. where in DIY is it?
  7. This is a very common issue with 997s; unfortunately... I would say if you put gas in the car, make sure the gas cap was tightened all the way... also, where did you put gas in your car? Surprisingly my car does not like the premium gas from costco or exxon, i only use Sunnoco, go figure... So, When I first purchased the car, I had this problem, here are the things they did: They said the coil pack on cylinder 1 and 3 are cracked... They replaced that.. The problem came back.. I went to a different dealer, Porsche of Rockville in MD, Danny Slaine who is one of the most knowledgeable Porsche mechanics works there, he said the problem can be my lifters in the car, so he replaced the lifters, and believe it or not, the car sounded so much better and smoother after... drove a lot better too... He also said the coil pack on cylinders 2-4 are cracked two, so with the combination of all those things, knock on wood, I haven't had the problem for a while... Good luck!!!
  8. Hi, anyone can guide me on how to find which part number for Nav Drive I should get? There are a few apparently, I have an 06 997S.
  9. Hi, I am trying to figure out how to upgrade my '06 Carrera S to use the factory screen to get navigation. I know that I need to buy a nav drive and probably some cables, and I have asked around and researched the forums and have seen other people do it, but the problem I am having is, when researching the forums, and calling local Porsche dealership, I have come across about 7-8 different part numbers for the Nav Drive, I have gotten 997.642.257.03 or 997.642.135.XX or 997.642.137.xx. I gave my vin to the dealer and he couldnt help me either... Is there anyone on here who knows enough to guide me in the right direction? I can tell you that my car would take the horizontal Nav drive. Thanks bobby
