Hello, I am about to get my 09 997.2 S and it doesn't have the interior and exterior self dimming option! Can I just get the mirror from Porsche and install it? does anyone have any instructions or info? Oddly enough it has some useless options like the voice control and parking sensors!!

Just use one, a spare, of the seat memory settings to move the outside rear view mirrors 5-10 degrees downward from the daytime position and dark window film on the rear window for the interior rear view mirror.

Personally, I'm not crazy about self dimming mirrors. They don't dim fast enough for my taste and setting the position of the mirror seems to be more critical. The more light that can hit the sensor the faster it can respond, but it's still too slow for me, plus in moderate traffic the constant changing from light to dark drives me batty.

There should be a switch that allows you to operate it manually if you want. I removed mine and replaced it with a normal one from Pep Boys.

iwas,

I have dimming inside and outside mirrors. Love them! To me, that was one of the no-compromise options on my '09 997-2 S. I totally disagree with the last two posts.

If there is any posibility of getting the option, I would exercise it. If you drive at night on highways for extended periods, whatever you can do to minimize eye fatigue and irritation is priceless. If you don't do much nightime highway, it may not be that important.

Good luck,

Ed

Hi,

Never thought that fixing a Mirror on the Windscreen will be so difficult. The mirror just does not stick in spite of all cleaning procedures. The maximum the mirror has stayed stuck is 3 months. There must be some better ways to fix the mirror. All kinds of glues available in the garages were used with varying results. There is no glue strong enough to hold the mirror in place for more than 3 months.Have tried the vaccum mirrors but they don't provide the visual fields at all and nothing is visible because the adjustment is very limited.I will greatly appreciate advice in fixing the mirror permanently. In the past, it happened to a different car and the fixing of mirror was permanent and it never came off.The current problem seems to be a specific problem with a Daewoo car. Please help me.
