  1. I've had a macadamia '09 997 C2S, bought it new. Got a lot of great comments about it. but....... everytime I see a white one, or a red one or a dark gray etc...etc... I liked it because it was featured on the Porsche brochure in 2009 and the combination with the red rear lights and red brake pad housing looked awesome. Still love it. Looks like root beer color.
  2. The seats are lined with ****ty leather. Period. They wear badly where there is friction with solid objects such as cell phones, walets, rough jeans, etc. I am thinking that I may not squak the failure. Porsche chose a bad supplier, probably chinese and the product is simply unsat. If enough owners complain they may do a campaign but I have heard surprisingly little commplaints. Let's get together and make some outrage! This is BS in a $90 K automobile.
  3. Hello phillip and gota, Thanks for your replies, allways good to have feedback. I'm still surprised my service mgr. didn't even mention the pse option! My own fault for not doing deep enough research. Is the quiet button located on the dash, on the same panel as the suspension and sport mode buttons? Regards,
  4. Howdy, I purchased this exhaust noted above because it was most likely covered by the original warranty. The upgrade was obtained from Champion's reccomended shop, co-located with the Champion Porsche Dealership in Pompano Beach, FL. I'm not satisfied with the product at this tiime. It maxes out at about 4,000 rpms and develops a trumpet-like brrrraaaaaaatttttttt that I don't like at all. Below 3,500 rpms it sound great. Above 4,500 rpms its ok again. The growl off the line is gnarly and cool. If you shift up below say 3,600, it's OK. If you shift up above that rpm, it sounds like a trumpet, or some cheap accura or KIA 4 cyl. joke. I'm hoping it will mature to a more sedate sound as it ages. If it doesn't, it's gone. Expensive **** experiment. About $3,500 for purchase and install. However, it did not sound as advertized or as depicted on u-tube. I probably should have gone for the Porsche retrofit sport exhaust with the on off overide on the dash. More expensive but if your'e keeping the car, who cares? My service manager should have told me, specially since the prices are so close. Did I get 10-20 more HP since the engine breathes more freely? I do really think I did, It feels like more power is available. No I did not dyno the thing, just a visceral feeling. Would I buy it again knowing what I know now, NO! Going to attempt a deal with the installer. Trade both systems back for the Porshe Sport Exhaust. They will probably want my children and dog for exchange. If it means loosing the proverbial shirt, may simply switch back to the original. I just like to hear the engine/exhaust note more than factory, I drive by sound partly. If you ever change your exhaust syst., make **** sure you keep the old system and store it in your garage. It's like a woman, who knows until you've ridden her? Still love the car! Ed
  5. Howdy! Any experience out there with TUBI exhaust productss? Chanpion Posrche, Pompano Beach, FL has a performance shop and they reccomend this manufacturer. I'm only 2.5 years into the factory warranty and bought the extended warranty to 84mo/75000 mi and don't want to void it. 997.2 C2S. The Porsche performance endorsed TUBI seems to be least likely to interfere with the warranty although there are other less expensive quality after-market sport exhaust manufacturers out there. If this works out, I''ll probably re-map the ecu. Doing both is "advertised" to get you 35-40 addit HP. Comments and obsdervations would be very appreciated! Thaks! Ed
  6. Howdy, Changed the oil on my '09 997.2 C2S after 5K miles. I've changed oil and filter every 5K since I bought it, (after the first oil change). Tot. mileage 25,400 mi. It, (the oil, not the car), was dirty, brown. Why wait the prescribed 10K mi interval? Still think oil change is cheap insurance. Also, right rear, (drive) tire was worn inside to the metal bands. I heard a rhythmic low freq drone loudest at about 45-60 mph. The alignment was off in camber by 0.2-0.4 degrees. The rear tires only had 8K miles on them and I drive relatively easily. It is my work commuter everyday car. Michelin Pilot II's. The **** tire could have popped with the next manhole cover and the left rear tire still had about 2K meat on it. The front tires probably won't need to be replaced for another 8K. That would make rear to front replacement ration 3/1, We'll see. What throws the alignment off, just normal driving over railroad tracks and bumps? Loosening of hardware from simple use and vibration? Hard driving? All of the above? After alignment and new rear tires the thing is sswwweeeeeettttt!!!!!!! What a machine!! Ed
  7. Forgive me if I missread you intentions, but....Why hardwire any detector when the technology changes so quickly? Just throw away the old one every three years, (or give it to your kids), and replace it with the newer unit. Valentine or Passport. Turn the vol down by hand when you get a sqwak. Unless you're not keeping the car. Just sayin', Ed
  8. ST, Dude! You are going to scrape every single elephant tu--d, parking stop, speed bump, incline, road debris, uneven ramp and road kill carcass on the face of your ride to work. The PASM d/c button supposedly drops your suspension about 3/8 in. by adding valve galleries in your shocks. Unless you're refering to a dedicated track or weekend vehichle as opposed to an everyday go to work ride, you may want to rethink this mod. I personally hate hitting bottom with any form of transportation. Respectfully, Ed:rolleyes:
  9. Howdy, I have the camel interior fan=ventilated standard leather seats. The pilot side left flank and forward facing surface of the seat is nasty and raw. It looks scuffed and worn through without the original color where my body grazes the surface getting in and out of the car. The pax side is beggining to wear badly also. This probably is a common problem and merely cosmetic. However, I am wondering if anyone has squaked the problem to their dealer and the resoponse. This car is too expensive to have a glaring flaw like this after only 18 mo of age/ownership. I don't know if they can recondition the leather or if they have to replace the seat cover, (or seat??)'. Does anybody mind this or does it only add character? I'm taalking about the Any similar experience out there? Thanks!!
  10. Howdy, I thought these types of after market mods, exhaust and intake manifold, but especially remapping would void the warranty!! This being a 997-C2S posting, I'm assuming the warranty is still in effect. Observations and comments are appreciated, Thanks! Ed
  11. Howdy, Driving on 1-95 southbound in Hollywood, FL yesterday. I was carrying a somewhat short following distance, (here in SOFLA, if you leave anything more than a car length at 85 mph, someone will slide in front of you!). Anyway, Im behind a van and the guy suddenly swerves to the left to avoid hitting two large plastic containers. They measured about 2 feet by 1 1/2 feet by 1 1/2 feet. I hit them. I guess the van guy could see to the front but I couldn't see around the van. The two bins shattered and scored my plastic bra front end. Didn't mess the color up much but definitely dented some of the plastic. Now I have the choice of spending the s to repair the damage, go through the insurance (incl. deductible, free upgrade in premium, etc.) or just ignore it. 2010 997-2. This after getting my driver's door keyed in a restaurant parking lot 2 mo ago. The world is full of assholes. Ed
  12. Howdy! Have a 2010 Carrera S and would like to add a rear window windshield wiper. Is this a possible retrofit? Sometimes it's very humid in the am and it would be nice to wipe the glass. I've seen the 90 degree motor shaft for the wiper passes through the rear glass, so a retrofit may require new rear glass. Observations and personal experience woud be appreciated!! Ed
  13. iwas, I have dimming inside and outside mirrors. Love them! To me, that was one of the no-compromise options on my '09 997-2 S. I totally disagree with the last two posts. If there is any posibility of getting the option, I would exercise it. If you drive at night on highways for extended periods, whatever you can do to minimize eye fatigue and irritation is priceless. If you don't do much nightime highway, it may not be that important. Good luck, Ed
  14. :drive: Definite yes on the PASM!! Converts the car into another beast. Huge change in sauspension and handling. Together with the Chrono Sports mapping it's like having 2 cars.
  15. If this occurs while going very slowly, it may be the incline anti roll function. Read the maunal, if you have a manual transmission which I do, it occasionally will clunk when starting to move on an incline. If yours is an automatic transmission, I don't know. Good luck.
  16. Howdy, Some jerk keyed my driver's door, not bad but ugly and irritating. Anybody know of a manufacturer that makes a touch up kit? Color is "macadamia", (like a metallic dark chocolate). Thanks!
  17. Howdy! Just replaced the rear 295/35 19 Michelin Pilot N1's. Tot miles on the tires 16,200, (that is a real no-****ter). For the last 2,000 to 3,000 mi the tires were realy noisy. Anyone know if Metzler makes tires for the 997 C2S?
  18. To each their own, of course. I just love arguing my preference. I don't know about you other six-speed drivers, but when I'm not shifting both hands are on the wheel. loose but steady grip, 10 and 2. Talk about involved: my hands were full today, as I descended an unfamiliar mountain road down to Socal's Pacific Coast Hwy. The road had posted 15 and 10 mph turns requiring heel-toe downshifts to first gear. But I became really busy, when I encountered a 997.2 Turbo coming up the other way, and of course I had to wave to the other driver. I suppose that would be the one scenario in favor of the Porschedoppleklutchenpopper. Betcha the Turbo driver was therefore lots less busy than I was, but I couldn't tell, because his or her windows were buttoned up tight, while mine were down and the sunroof open to better enjoy the beautiful Spring day and all the self-induced (no robots please) blipping noises echoing off the canyon walls. Oh, and was THAT ever fun! You dog!!!! SOCAL IS SWEEEET!!!!!! Here in SOFLA we get excited,,,,,allright,,,,,,on ramp to I-95!! Hey, how about that ride to 29 Palms east of Ontario???? I've kept a CA MD license for 20 years without working there outside of the military. $600 every 2 years. My wife vetoed a job in San Diego 10 years ago, don't know if I can forgive her. At least I can keep my guns in FL. The most beautiful state in the union, keep it out of the trees!! Ed
  19. I AM A ANALOG MAN IN A DIGITAL WORLD!!!!!!!! Driving a PDK is so easy....even a caveman can do it. Ed
  20. Good afternoon, How many miles are you getting from the 19" Michelin sports on your 997-2S. I am at 13,000 mi and have about 2-3 mm left before the wear markers are reached. I do not do power turns, have not tracked and am generally gentle with off the line starts. The front tires look like they have several thousand miles left of tread. (standard shift 6 speed) Thanks! Ed
  21. I just wish I had ordered the heated steering wheel. It's been cold in SOFLA this winter. Ed
  22. Sorry I brought any of it up. Everybody took the high road on me. I'm ashamed. I'll have to go back to my ADVRIDER forum. They don't seem to mind these questions there. I promise not to bring this up here again. :(
