Brake Bleeder Valve Issues

Just curious if others have experienced problems or issues with opening brake bleeder valves on a turbo or C4S. Bleeders being frozen in place, breaking off, etc.

I'm pretty sure someone over tightened the bleeder valve the last time the brakes were bled. They shouldn't be really all that cranked down.

I agree with jyoteen - the spec is 6.0 - 9.0 ftlb. That is not much at all on those tiny screws.

Thanks, I agree. I've had the car for several years, from 13k to 30k, and as far as I know this would be the first time the brakes have been bled, or attempted anyway. I'm thinking that the valves were over torqued at the factory. We solved the problem of one broken bleeder valve, and I anticipate resolving all the others when it's time to change out the pads. Hopefully I wont need to replace all four calipers....ouch. j
