CEL P0430 Swap O2 Sensors to isolate issue

Recommended Posts

2001 Boxster 5 speed 2.7L. 74K miles. CEL would come on and code was P0430 ( I believe that is cat performance bank 2). I cleared the code and it would return every 2 to 3 days. I checked the freeze frame data and the temperature and speed was never the same. It just seemed random. I swapped the right and left O2 sensors after cat thinking that if the cat was bad, the 0430 code would come back but if the O2 sensor was bad, a different code would come up seeing I change banks. They were both clean. I cleaned the crud from between the wires where then go into the sensor and reinstalled. Cleared the code. the CEL has not come back on and there are no pending codes after 5 days and 250 mies. Could it have been dirty connections in the socket, the computer is still recalibrating and the code will eventually come back, the crud between the wires on the sensor --- any ideas as to why it appears cured. I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth. Any theories or comments? thanks
