Durametric help?

Recommended Posts

Hello all and Merry Christmas -

I am a longtime VW enthusiast looking to help my brother with his '98 Boxster. In the VW world, one can get a fellow enthusiast with the diagnostic software to read/reset codes for the price of a 6-pack. Is there such a practice and/or a list of those willing here in the Porsche world using the Durametric or other software? Or anybody in the Mpls/St. Paul area? Specifically looking at the airbag light / seatbelt buckle / ground issue - make sure those are the codes we are getting and reset. Thanks in advance!

Matt

PS Get at me if your other car is a VeeDub and you need a code read / throttle body adapt, etc!

I think I can assure you we are a strong support group. Possibly more then your V Dub group.

First off, give us more info (code numbers) about the errors, and second, dont spout about some VW/Porsche tug of war. We are all only here to help and share.

First, you need to understand a given limitation on the "enthusiast" version of the Durametric software, the most common version individuals own: It can only be used on three cars. So asking someone for access has a significant cost to the owner, he/she is giving up one third of the system's utility for your "six pack". I would suggest trying to find someone with the "Pro" version of Durametric, which does not have that limitation, but costs a lot more to purchase, so you may be buying them a good bottle of wine instead................

Yee ha - Certainly not trying to start anything, I assume there is similar camraderie - headlight flash or peace sign, it's all good. Need to get to some sort of scanner first in order to get and post the codes...

JFP - Good info, maybe I will use that to convince my bro he needs to cough up for a durametric, it ought to pay for itself on this fix!
