Power Seat Question

Recommended Posts

My brother is currently trading his 03 Turbo in and he purchased the car used from a private party who had installed GT3 seats. The dealership does not want those seats so he has to install regular porsche seats. So we purchased regular power seats however the car originally had sport seats, no power. The driver seat has five harnesses where do you plug all these in? Also the passenger is being a pain of hooking up the main harness unit. Do you need to purchase something from the dealer? Any part numbers, further information, etc.. would be greatly appreciated as we need to trade the car in by the 14th of January. Thank you.

The under seat harnesses are different. If the car originally had sport seats and you are now trying to install power seats you will not be able to connect all of the connectors as they wont be there. This will be a problem as you wont be able to power the seat so the front/back, height and seat memory functions will not work. You do not even have the buttons on the door sill for the seat memory. This retrofit done correctly will cost a lot of money. Your best bet is to locate a set of sport seats.

If the car did not have power/memory seats from the factory then it is next to impossible to put them in. Power/Memory seats are a factory option and the (main) wiring harness is different for cars ordered with that option. So you would need to either change the whole wiring harness or try to patch in all wiring for the seats.

Downgrading the seats is easy if the car came with the power/memory option but upgrading is extremely difficult. If you bought the new seats from a dealer then take them back - they should know better than to sell you something that can't work.
