Dot Matrix display corruption

Morning all.

I wonder if anyone can help me with this.

The dot matrix display of my 996 C4 1999 ROW has developed a fault.

Where it displays MPH, there are a number of pixels that appear to be stuck on.

I think the pattern changes slightly each time I switch on.

If I were talking about a phone or computer, I'd say it looked like it had a virus.

I recently had a major service.

Has anyone seen this type or fault before?

It could be the connector between the dash and the rest of the car. Have you changed anything in that area recently? Sometimes the LCD displays do go, but the symptoms you mention (different segments each time) it sounds more like a connector in the dash.

If it is not as dammad suggests then you will likely need to replace the cluster or find a speedometer shop that can repair your cluster.

Thanks for the info.

The car has recently had a major service - I don't suppose this would affect the dashboard.

Attached is a picture of the corrupted display.
