keyless enty for rear trunk

Recommended Posts

on my 98 Boxster, the rear trunk doesn't respond to the button on the key when pushed, it works manually with the internal lever but I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem, and if the problem is with the key or something else?

If you do hear a some noise comming from the trunk when you press your key, it is probably the boden cable that is connected to the trunk release mechanism. It might have snapped.

Just remove the internal "lock" vover and part of the carpet in you trunk, it is easy to see.

I a similar problem...

thanks, there is no noise at all, so I think it might be the key programming issue....will have to investigate...

Did it ever work? My 98 behaves the same way yours does. When I got it, the key did not operate any of the locks or doors, it only activated the alarm. I took it to a stereo and alarm shop and they hooked the alarm up to the door locks. They said that there wasn't a solenoid for the trunk (because it was a base model) and that I would have to add one if I wanted to operate the trunk latch from the key.

I don't know if what they told me is accurate or not, but that's what I ran into.

Try holding the key button down for several seconds. I thought mine didn't work until I found that it needed to be pressed down for several seconds (I have a 2000 S).
