i was also told i was unable to code this to my 2005 carera S is this true?

am i not able to code a 3 button key for my cabrio? i realise the 3rd button will be usless for me,

Every key has a unique 40 digit code. You need that code to program any other key (new or used).

is it possible to get the 40 didgit code from the key when you program it? how would i go about getting it?

thanks

No sorry no way to extract that I know of. The code is provided on a piece of paper with the when the sender is new. Unless the remote is provided with this piece of paper with the code, it cannot be re-programmed. The codes are unique to each remote transponder.

Here is a remote I had for sale, you'll see the programming code blanked out below the barcode (which the barcode is probably the programming code for that remote).

9x7 keys do not have a programming code like the 9x6 ones. New 9x7 keys do not come with any tags or codes.

The PAS unit reads the radio frequency from the remote, and progams it into the module. If you know the IPAS codes for the car, it can be done by anyone with a PIWIS tester. I have done it myself using a new key head, but I can see no reason why you couldn't use a second-hand key. Gen2 keys are compatible with Gen1 PAS modules (Porsche Access System).

So we still require ipas codes for programming additional 9x7 keys, just that we don't need the 40 digit numbers in order to program/re-program them, just click and it reads off the key itself during syncing?

Do you think it's the same procedure with the new Panamera and new Cayenne car-shape keys?

Yes, you need the IPAS codes to get to the key programming routine with PIWIS, but you don't need any key-specific codes like you used to with the 9x6.

I've never programmed a Cayenne key, so I don't know, and Panamera would need PIWIS2, and I haven't seen one up close.
